Your Opportunity:
The instructor is responsible for providing and facilitating education based on adult education principles, for staff within the Urgent Care Clinic to ensure that clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained. The instructor uses the principles of adult learning to assess staff educational and professional development needs, and to plan, implement and evaluate educational initiatives for varying staffing disciplines. The instructor facilitates, coordinates, and supports the implementation of education initiatives for orientation, mandatory education, in-service, and continuing education programming; and for changes in policy, procedure, protocols and technology to promote clinical competence of staff. The instructor objectively monitors, evaluates, and documents the learning process and learning outcomes. The instructor informs and works in collaboration with management to develop and implement new policies/procedures and training/education session to address specific learning needs. The instructor adheres to their professional Code of Ethics and his/her employer’s policy/procedures. In the event of a public health emergency, staff from this program will be deployed as required.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years Urgent Care is required or recent Emergency Room Nursing. Previous teaching /staff development experience is required. Strong understanding of collaborative care. Knowledge of adult learners and principles of adult learning are required. Incumbent needs to have demonstrated leadership ability and effective interpersonal and written communication skills. Knowledge of a variety of educational delivery methods such as in-services, academic education, experiential learning, and consultation, teaching other, distance learning, research and self-directed activities. Knowledge of staff and educational program evaluation methods. Knowledge of AHS resources and systems. Demonstrated competence in clinical practice. Research skills to identify information sources and provide current, accurate information. Self-directed, self-motivated. Flexible and adaptable. Prioritize work and have projects/work completed in a timely manner. Recognize and maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative. Teaching and coaching skills. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to staff learning requirements. Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Certificate in Adult education or course that show knowledge of adult learning principles. Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) Trainer Certificate. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Alberta Emergency Nurse Education Courses (ENPEP).
