Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of CACPR guidelines and their applications. Understanding of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Guidelines. Proficient in their understanding of cardiac diagnostics, procedures and interventions. Knowledge of and experience with American College of Sports Medicine guidelines as they apply to the patient with acute coronary disease as well as chronic diseases. Strong knowledge and understanding of the application of Behaviour Change Approach in all settings, including 1:1 assessment, group, class and public settings. Functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team of clinical chronic disease specialists to deliver evidence guided care and education to individuals, families and groups affected by cardiovascular disease. Experience in providing expert advice and advocacy to other health care professionals within Primary Care, AHS community and post-secondary education institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years recent cardiac nursing experience required, preferably working with cardiac patients in the education and management of cardiovascular disease and vascular protection. Experience within the area of Chronic Disease Management in the community setting preferred. Must be able to translate research and evidence into clinical practice. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills required (Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
