Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The incumbent must be willing to work on all Medicine units as needed. Shift work is required. The RN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the healthcare team, delivering consistent quality care to meet the needs of the patients. The RN must have the ability to prioritize nursing actions to be in alignment of patient goals and treatment requirements in a timely and organized manner. The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergency situations is essential. This position is physically demanding, including (but not limited to) standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, carrying, twisting, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, mobilization and repetitive movements. Must also have the ability to assist with all levels of care for bariatric patients, as well as the ability to handle 21-50 pounds frequently. The candidate must possess strong communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (for example: verbal, written, active listening) and the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of patients/family, relay patient information to primary health care provider(s), on and off-site, in a timely, concise, accurate manner, in order to facilitate the primary health care provider’s treatment decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of acute adult experience is preferred. Palliative care nursing experience and charge nurse experience would be an asset. Computer experience is preferred.
