Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:This is a front line nursing position on a busy and diverse medical unit. Once trained and with the proper experience, the incumbent must be willing to work on all Medicine units as needed. Shift work is required. The RN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the healthcare team, delivering consistent quality care to meet the needs of the patients. The RN must have the ability to prioritize nursing actions to be in alignment of patient goals and treatment requirements in a timely and organized manner. The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergency situations is essential. This position is physically demanding, including (but not limited to) standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, carrying, twisting, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, mobilization and repetitive movements. Must also have the ability to assist with all levels of care for bariatric patients, as well as the ability to handle 21-50 pounds frequently. The candidate must possess strong communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (for example: verbal, written, active listening) and the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of patients/family, relay patient information to primary health care provider(s), on and off-site, in a timely, concise, accurate manner, in order to facilitate the primary health care provider’s treatment decisions. 2 years of recent acute adult experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Palliative care nursing experience and charge nurse experience would be an asset. Computer experience is preferred.
