Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Working under the supervision of the Manager of Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinic, the Registered Nurse assists Physicians in the provision of care of a multi-disciplinary team for patients in Gastroenterology specialty clinics. The Registered Nurse is self-directed and is able to collaborate and function independently and works as a role model and leader in an expanded nursing role. The nurse will act as a Clinical resource, advocate for patients, staff and physicians. The main responsibility is patient education and case management in conjunction with GI Specialists, Admin Support, Triage, Procedure Booking Clerks and Physicians. The Clinic’s current hours of operation are between 0800h - 1700h Monday to Friday (hours are subject to change dependent on the needs of the Clinic).

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and proficiency with a minimum of 3 years acute medicine and/or equivalent experience within the past 10 years. Demonstrated complex case management experience in the past 3 years in an Ambulatory Outpatient clinic setting, including clinical and telephone assessment and triage required. Advance knowledge of Gastroenterology and Hepatology required; this could include regimens and protocols and knowledge of IBD, Viral Hepatitis B and C treatment experience. Ability to attend off-site clinics, if necessary. Experience with Adult patient and Family teaching. Demonstrated experience in leadership roles, i.e. Nurse Clinician / charge nurse / unit-based committee membership and/or participation. Demonstrated ability to incorporate full scope of nursing practice and knowledge into clinical practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment as an effective team player to a full scope of practice. Intermediate computer skills working in a variety of clinical & regional-based programs preferred. Excellent English verbal and written skills. Experience with Ambulatory workflow in Connect Care and asset.
