Your Opportunity:
This position provides clinical care for the care of in-patients in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, a subspecialty area. Nursing responsibilities are focused on children and adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral and psychiatric difficulties, and utilizes a family centered model of care. This is a regularized relief float position where you would work and cover multiple units. You would be covering predictable relief needs such as sick time, leave of absence, education, vacation, and personal leave. You would be covering for Inpatient Adolescent Mental Health Units 23 and 26 at FMC. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Recent inpatient mental health experience. Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development and family dynamics. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members. Understanding and experience with supportive counselling skills. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Strong organizational, independent problem-solving, and communication skills are required. Adaptive and innovative approach given the continuously changing environment essential. Computer skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:Brain Story Certification. Training in and excellent working knowledge of Collaborative Problem Solving, Attachment Theory and Trauma Informed Care. Experience using evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
