South Health Campus (SHC) is currently looking for an experienced, Registered Nurse for their fast paced Intensive Care/Critical Care unit. This role is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your specialized skills in a state of the art facility that includes a strong team dynamic, modern equipment and facilities. The SHC is an innovative concept that includes inpatient, outpatient, wellness services, as well as prevention, public health education and learning opportunities for community members. The campus also includes wellness facilities with partners such as a YMCA, as well as retail and commercial partnerships. SHC adheres to four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centred Care and Innovation. These pillars are the key philosophical principles to be used in the development and implementation of all care to patients and families. The ICU/CCU RN acts as a primary caregiver to the patient and family in the critical care setting and is trained in advanced critical care certifications including Code Blue and Outreach team membership. The successful RN will be relied upon as a collaborative member of the health care team, delivering holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals and their families. Accomplished communication both written and verbal will be crucial to navigate this complex environment that routinely demands detailed, time sensitive, documentation and information. Additionally, the ICU/CCU RN delivers leadership in nursing assessments, planning, implementing and evaluating care within the context of our four pillars. Fostering a professional practice in this role will not be limited to mentoring staff, ongoing professional development, professional accountability and the assumption of charge nurse duties along with the promotion of a positive, healthy, supportive, safe work environment.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 4 years working in critical care and demonstrating strong assessment skills, care of the mechanically ventilated patients, care of patients requiring vasoactive or inotropic intravenous medications.
Preferred Qualifications:Degree in Nursing. Advance Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS). Completion of a certified critical care certification program. advanced hemodynamic monitoring (ex. PA Catheter). Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) certification. Code Blue and/ or Outreach Team certification.
