Your Opportunity:

The SHC has four key pillars of service: Patient and Family Centered Care, Wellness, Collaborative Practice, and Innovation. These pillars are the guiding principle for the Pulmonary Diagnostic and Specialty Clinics in the delivery of care to all patients and families. Under the direction of the Management Team for Pulmonary Diagnostics Clinics at South Health Campus, this position is responsible for: assessment, intervention, education and evaluation of patient care in the outpatient clinic environment. Working to full scope of practice the incumbent is required to assist with medical procedures, including bronchoscopy, and participate in and support research activities. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following: Active participation in patient, family, and staff education. Patient assessment, timely documentation, attention to detail and accuracy. Time management to effectively organize and prioritize workload in a fast paced changing environment. Must possess excellent English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication. Must be self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment, and critical thinking skills. Positive interpersonal relationships, leadership, and conflict resolution skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Ability to integrate patient and family centered care principles into own Nursing practice. Effective communication with clients of various ages, socioeconomic status, and ethnic backgrounds.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduation from a recognized nursing education program. Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Baccalaureate Degree Nursing education program preferred. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Minimum one year of full time experience in the last two years of adult critical care/medical/surgical experience required. Current IV certification is required. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment:  standing on one’s feet for prolong periods of time, frequent walking, lifting and bending. Must be able to work for extended periods of time in a fluoroscopy environment wearing PPE such as N95 mask and lead apron.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Pulmonary Out Patient Clinics is preferred. Experience in procedural sedation/bronchoscopy is preferred. Dysrhythmia certification. ACLS certification preferred. CRE, CAE, or CTE certification is preferred. Proficiency in programs such as: Connect Care and Netcare.
