Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Clinical experience in dealing with chronic disease (minimally Diabetes and Obesity) prevention and management, and self-management strategies in a community health program context. Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience educating health care professionals in management of Obesity and/or 2 years of recent experience with Diabetes management education of professionals. Minimum 3 years of recent experience in the delivery of group patient education in person and online. Ability to lift, handle and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment The role may require continued use of personal protective equipment Must be able to raise arms above head to appropriately don and doff PPE as well as lift equipment and supplies Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time Requires walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs Requires packing, lifting, and transporting equipment to and from community sites and travel within the Edmonton zone.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred Preference will be given to applicants with a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) / CBE (Certified Bariatric Educator) designation. Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations is an asset. Completion of a recognized course in adult learning is an asset Experience working with eClinician & Connect Care also given preference.
