Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Clinical Proficiency (minimum 5 years): Recent experience in adult critical care, emergency, and/or ambulatory oncology. Ability to perform comprehensive critical care and internal medicine assessments. Certification and excellent skills in adult venipuncture, IV pump administration and management of central lines. Proficient in utilizing Connect Care and Netcare. Specialization in oncology preferred with experience in administering high-risk systemic therapy medications. Successful completion of de Souza OPREP Foundations Part 1 or equivalent. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate a keen interest and passion for oncology nursing. Exhibit strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Showcase critical thinking abilities crucial for working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Physical and Safety Requirements: Staff must lift up to 30lbs to assist patients during emergencies or systemic therapy. Physical strength and mobility are essential for CPR and emergency responses. The role may involve extended periods of standing, sitting, repetitive motions, and adherence to scheduled break times. While we strive to accommodate individual needs, significant resource modifications may disrupt workflows or compromise care. Meeting these requirements ensures safety and high standards of care at The Central Alberta Cancer Centre.
Preferred Qualifications:CNA Oncology and Lead II Certificates: regarded as an asset. Completion of de Souza OPREP Foundations Part 2 or equivalent Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course (PSCB): Completion is preferred, emphasizing expertise in chemotherapy and biotherapy. Preference will be given to candidates with oncology experience or demonstrated efforts toward pursuing oncology education. Resumes should reflect genuine interest through relevant training, certifications, or experience.
