Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Within the Maternity Care Department, the Postpartum Unit aims to attract and retain high quality Registered Nurses (RNs) who will provide excellence in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of high-quality nursing care delivered across the perinatal continuum. The Postpartum RN provides holistic, comprehensive, and family centered care within the context of our families, both independently and collaboratively as a member of the healthcare team. The RN will consistently practice cultural sensitivity in a diverse, dynamic, and fast paced environment where critical thinking skills are required within the interdisciplinary team setting. This includes Postpartum care of patients who have given birth, including surgical deliveries, and the care of the normal newborn who is transitioning to extra uterine life. As an effective communicator, the RN will provide family centered teaching and care, focusing on health promotion, illness/injury prevention, infant nutrition, safety, and discharge planning to prepare the dyad for transition back to their homes in the community. The RN is accountable for their own practice and will be guided by their education, experience, Alberta Health Services policies, and procedures, as well as CRNA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Standards. The RN will consistently demonstrate AHS core values in their professional practice.
