Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone required. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment required. Computer proficiency required. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Minimum 4 months recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting required Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required Experience in administering the Mental Status examination Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. IV Certification preferred. Working Knowledge or experience about the various therapeutic modalities i.e. CBT, DBT, Supportive therapy, Motivational interview Knowledge/Understanding of DSM-IV and 5 preferred.
