Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Three (3) years surgical/perioperative experience required, 3 years specific experience in an ambulatory care setting with minor outpatient surgical procedure skills in Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology required. Experience in a team leader role including charge nurse. Attention to detail. Commitment to ongoing learning. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Ability to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Ability to demonstrate communications skills that promote respect and a positive team environment. Experience with Netcare & Connect Care/Ambulatory required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with patients of varied visual and physical assistance including positioning and assist to mobilization required. Strong organizational skills and supports efficient workflows. Incumbent should have effective interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills including experience in Microsoft Outlook, & MS Teams. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as turning and mobilizing patients.
Preferred Qualifications:Perioperative Certificate from an approved school of nursing Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Perioperative Nursing Successful completion of an ophthalmic assisting course from a recognized institution. Must be able to support extensive orientation.
