Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Certified Diabetes Educator certification. Connect Care experience and proficiency with reviewing electronic lab results. Ambulatory Care experience. BScN required. Experience with diabetes education and management including insulin and medication therapy; blood glucose monitoring; and other diabetes management issues. Current BLS-HCP with the physical ability to perform CPR on adult patients. An intermediate level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including, but not limited to, reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of keyboard computer work and the ability to assist patients with mobility limitations is required (i.e., transfers, bariatric clients, bending, stooping, twisting, walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member. The candidate needs to be able to work independently and needs to have high organizational and prioritizing skills. A working knowledge Connect Care, Netcare, Outlook and Word as well as other applications is required. Responsible for continuing competence through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research, and continuous improvement activities.
