Registered Nurse - Parkinson and Movement Disorder
Your Opportunity:
This position requires an advanced expertise and knowledge to ensure the provision of safe and timely care to patients withing the Parkinson and Movement Disorder Program (PMDP), a worldwide recognized Center of Excellence. Encompassing all duties and responsibilities expected of a Registered Nurse (RN) to support the following types of patients: General PMDP, Duodopa, Huntington's, Dystonia and Deep Brain Stimulation.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:A Minimum of 2 years regularly scheduled inpatient or outpatient work as a RN in the specialty of Neurosciences (within the last 5 years). Experience with strong collaborative skills and the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team setting displaying flexibility and excellent communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment as leader as well as a team player. Ability to communicate finding in a concise and accurate manner. Strong problem solving skills including technical and ability to work with novel technologies. Must have the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 30 lbs. must be able to participate in patient assessments, moving and handling, transferring patients, walking and standing. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and be competent with computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care Trained. Preference will be given to those applicants who have advanced therapies skill and knowledge of PDMP patients. Experience of Case Management an asset.
