Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year experience as a RN in an acute medical or surgical unit within the last 2 years. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an acute medical unit at RGH may be considered. Recent Charge experience within the last year. Able to handle the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to walking, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of the shift. Safe transferring of adult patients of varying mobility, transporting supplies and equipment. Demonstrates and meets infection prevention and control requirements by following standard practice for all patients, including proper handwashing technique. Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with managing patients with variable cognitive impairments. Current IV (starting), Level 1 CVC, PICC, and IV Direct (pushing) experience. Current N95 Fit Test. It’s Your Move certification. Skin and wound care experience including VAC dressings. Experience with electronic charting SCM. Participation in a unit or site based quality improvement or safety council or other unit workflow review committee.
