Description:
As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases.

Completion of a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience Intravenous sedation. CPR Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS – HCP). Minimum of two years of recent dental assistant experience. Experience in triaging, assessing, and advising clients who present with varied and often complex issues and/or problems. Demonstration of excellent assessment, critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and patient care skills. Self-direction, adaptability and flexibility required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, and pulling weights up to fifty pounds to transfer or transport patients and equipment. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
Preferred Qualifications:National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certification. Cross-cultural competence and experience working with complex, vulnerable populations. Experience in operative services and IV sedation. A sound working knowledge of GOLD electronic medical record systems.
