Your Opportunity:

This position will plan and oversee recreation programming for the 15 bed LTC facility in Hardisty, the 15-bed supportive living facility in Galahad and the 10 rehab beds in Daysland. You will work with the recreation therapy assistants and larger Allied Health team to assess residents and patients and plan programming for the identified leisure needs.

Description:

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Superior communication skills demonstrating ability to give and receive instructions, communicate observations and work within a team environment. Must demonstrate good organizational and time management skills. Basic computer skills required, additional computer skills an asset. Experience with Connect Care an asset. Must be physically capable of lifting and transferring patients and equipment. Ability to manage multiple tasks.
