Recreation Therapist I
Your Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity in Central Zone to be part of the project team to implement the QoL Grant funding for the Chrysalis Project: Culture Change, transforming facilities into resident-choice inspired homes. This position requires a full-time commitment for a 2-year term including on-site visits and travel throughout Central Zone to all 26 Type A Homes (LTC). Occasional overnight stays will be required. The project team will visit each site to educate and guide staff (using the FASCCI model) to ensure residents/ staff and families are engaged and have a voice in the design. The project team will be hands on with the implementation, process and plan at each site. As the Recreation Therapist I – Project Team member you will work closely with the Project Lead and the project team of 4, to facilitate and implement this 2-year project process and plan at each of the 26 sites.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills including ability to educate and train staff. Experience writing program protocols and evaluating programs. Excellent organizational skills with experience with project implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience as a recreation therapist in Type A homes (LTC) preferred.
