Psychologist II

As a Psychologist II, will be responsible for providing advanced clinical services (formal psychological assessments), consultation and education to clients/families and referral sources. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for clients with complex and multi-dimensional needs. The incumbent will provide formal, comprehensive psychological assessment services to six AHS adult outpatient mental health programs as well as the Shared Mental Health Care program. As part of these assessments, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting semi-structured and structured clinical interviews with clients, planning testing to be administered by the Psychological Assistant, interpreting test data, collecting relevant collateral information as needed, preparing a written assessment report, and communicating the testing results, conclusions and recommendations to clients and referring clinicians within a feedback session. Consultation to interdisciplinary professional staff in the referring programs is ongoing throughout the assessment process. The Psychologist II may provide leadership in and facilitation of program development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area. They will ensure practice aligns and models advanced psychology clinical practice that is evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice, code of ethics, policy legislation and regulations. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program required. Completed predoctoral internship from a CPA or APA accredited program required. Registered with College of Alberta Psychologists required. 1-2 years' experience in conducting formal comprehensive psychological assessments with adults with a wide variety of mental health disorders and health problems required. 1-2 years' experience in working with interdisciplinary outpatient mental health staff required Ability to develop and maintain excellent interpersonal professional relationships with interdisciplinary team, students, and referral sources required. Above average communication skills. Ability to function independently and have effective self-management skills required. Word processing skills required. Position may include significant periods of time sitting. The successful applicant will also provide clinical supervision to and collaborate with a Psychological Assistant and doctoral psychology students and residents.
