Unit 8-2b has an opportunity for an individual who is passionate about engaging in patient focused, rehabilitative care for clients with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental health concerns. As part of the team, you will work on a psychiatric rehabilitation unit at Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE) supporting clients with varying levels of community readiness and behavior and/or communication complexities. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to carry out individualized care plans within a collaborative care framework. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting clients in their activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, safety, recreation, and social activities. The Psychiatric Aide will remain focused on the client’s individualized wellness plan and goals while using excellent engagement strategies and communication skills. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patient¿s mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.

Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with developmentally delayed individuals with co-occurring mental health concerns and/or complex behaviors and varying communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Care Aide certification. Post-secondary education in social sciences, psychology or health services.
