Protective Services Officer II
Your Opportunity:
At Alberta Health Services, we strive to build a workplace that’s a reflection of the Albertans we serve. We are committed to developing a work environment that is physically and psychologically safe for staff and patients alike. Located in the Calgary NW area, SAFPC is a highly regulated and strictly controlled healthcare facility, currently caring for 35 patients, many of which are an extreme high security concern. Patients at the site are in two categories. The first being Assessment Patients, directed or ordered by the courts for psychiatric evaluation and assessment. The second being the Treatment, or NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) patients. The teams at SAFPC are small, comprising of two Peace Officers (one TL, one CPO 1), two Paladin guards and a 7x7 swing shift Peace Officer (10:00 - 22:00). There is also a Monday – Friday swing shift Paladin guard (08:00 – 16:00). The site has very close working relations with our clinical partners and are often the first to be asked for their observations and advice regarding the care and supervision of patients as it relates to a security concern. Officers will be expected to demonstrate a high level of empathy with often highly volatile patients while maintaining their authority and remaining supportive of clinical staff to ensure a smooth, calm and efficient operational capacity. We welcome your application!
