High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to provide a positive and friendly approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Ability to work effectively independently, and within a team, effectively managing his or her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines over a period of time. Open to occasional travel and possible overnight stay based on out of zone urgent response requirements. Ability to follow and adhere to Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, goals and objectives including privacy and confidentiality concerns.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates with two years post-secondary education in a law enforcement or criminal justice discipline. Two years post-secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice preferred. Two years related security/law enforcement experience preferred. WHMIS training preferred. Certificate in CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Pressure Point Control Tactic an asset. Current First Aid and CPR Level C – AED certification.
