A minimum of four (4) years related information, privacy investigation experience in a private or public sector environment or in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A working knowledge of information privacy principles with specific knowledge of Alberta's Health Information Act (HIA), Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and other similar access and privacy legislation is required. A post-secondary degree in Privacy, Legal, Information Management, Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences or related area. The ability to understand and interpret legislation and apply it to privacy compliance is required. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of one year experience for one year education or one year of education for one year of experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experienced in privacy, legal research, investigative and auditing practices, information analysis and interpretation is preferred. Experienced with conducting privacy investigations and assessing privacy program risk. Demonstrated skills with customer service, relationship building and networking, effective communication, problem solving and consultation, with a keen eye for detail and respect for confidentiality. Knowledge of data evaluation methodologies, and report development is preferred. Ability to negotiate with and handle demanding clients, tight deadlines and apply project management experience. Experience in and knowledge of working in a shared services environment where it’s expected to provide consistent services and advice across multiple client organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Information and Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designation. Certified Information and Privacy Management (CIPM) designation. Canadian Information Access and Privacy Professional (CIAPP). Completion of the University of Alberta IAPP Program.
