The Team Leader for Urotherapy is responsible for leading the team of Physiotherapists working in the specialized outpatient urogynecology and chronic pelvic pain women's programs. Our program is unique in pelvic health as you work within a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, pharmacist, dietician and exercise therapist. You will assist in the development of patient intervention protocols; education materials; participate in quality assurance and outcome measuring activities. Your high level of clinical expertise and interpersonal skills may be used to provide consultation services to therapists within and outside the region as well as participating in clinical teaching of students, assistants and staff. In your role as a senior rehabilitation therapist, you will be involved in some of the administrative aspects related to the program, which may include supervision, vacancy management, research, scheduling, program development, performance appraisals, committee participation or leadership and the co-ordination of site wide initiatives. Rehabilitation Services provides excellent learning opportunities through professional practice lead events as well supporting ongoing professional growth and quality improvement initiatives. Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Registered with CPTA for the Restricted Activity of Internal Exams. Heart and Stroke CPR (BLS-HCP) is required. Minimum 3 years’ recent experience in the assessment and treatment of urogynecological conditions (including internal exams) is required. Completion of the Intro to Pelvic Health Level 1 Part 1 and 2 course or equivalent is required. Proven communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other health care team members, patients, and their families is required. Experience in a leadership/mentorship role is required. Demonstrated ability in leading teams, coaching, mentoring and teaching, and the ability to facilitate practice growth in others. Demonstration of strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills are required. Experience working successfully as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team is required. Effective communication, problem solving, change management and organizational skills are required. Must possess strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills. Conflict resolution skills are required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. The ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other health care team members, patients, and their families is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Level 2 Lower Extremity Orthopedics or equivalent courses for spine and lower extremity manual therapy and/or equivalent chronic pelvic pain courses are preferred; OR must be completed within first year of employment. Licensed in Acupuncture or IMS is an asset. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Connect Care is preferred. Knowledge of community resources is an asset. Leadership development and related education is an asset.
