Your Opportunity:
Foothills Medical Centre is currently seeking a Temporary Weekend Nights Only Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. Shift pattern will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday alternating with Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Practicing within their full scope, the Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. Foothills Medical Center Pharmacy is a 24/7 Pharmacy with shifts around the clock. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: Preparation, repackaging, and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifies discrepancies and/or collects and organizes information to support the provision of direct patient care. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics, and preparing reports as required.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work in teams. Experience and certification within the last 12 months in non-sterile compounding is required. Experience and certification within the last 12 months in sterile compounding is required. Certification in preparing hazardous medications will be required within 4 weeks of start date. Preferred Qualifications:Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. FMC experience is preferred. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred. EPIC Willow experience is preferred.
