Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Working knowledge of Pharmacy terms and medication names. Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or Recent Retail or hospital pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer. Experience with Windows-based computer applications. Fluency in the English language (both written and verbal). Typing skills. Excellent attention to detail. In addition, the successful incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following: Demonstrates excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and time management skills. Demonstrates good organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Demonstrated computer (windows based computer applications) and typing skills. Displays professionalism, tact, courtesy, discretion and respects confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, self-motivated and able to demonstrate effective service attitude. Must be committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Preferred: 2+ years’ experience in the last 5 years in pharmacy is preferred. 1 year + BDM computer program experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:6 months + experience in a hospital setting. 6 months + experience in compounding (manufacturing), including reconstitution of products, unit dose repackaging and pouch packs preferred. 6 months + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics preferred. 6 months + experience in Narcotics preferred. 6 months + experience inventory management preferred. 6 months + experience using the pharmaceutical compounding equipment preferred. Investigational and Special Access Drug Knowledge preferred.
