Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent hospital pharmacy related experience and a working knowledge of Pharmacy terms and medication names. Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or recent hospital/retail pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer. Knowledge of Meditech (Pharmacy Modules) computer software. Experience with Windows-based computer applications. Basic knowledge of purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of pharmaceuticals to minimize outdated medications. Must be fluent in the English language (written and verbal). Must be able to type (40 words per minute desired). Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Good organizational, problem solving and decision-making ability. Must display tact, courtesy, discretion and respect confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, co-operative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, and self-motivated. Must be able to work both independently and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be able to adapt to new technologies and changing workflow patterns. Familiarity with the operation of various office equipment, unit dose packaging equipment and pharmaceutical compounding equipment. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: heavy lifting, standing, crouching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, typing, walking and standing for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:1+ yr experience in rural hospital pharmacy supporting remote sites, 1+ yr experience Meditech computer program experience including patient specific order entry. 1 yr + in Narcotics. 1 yr + experience inventory management. 6 months + experience in distribution related work including reconstitution of products and unit dose repackaging.
