Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience required. Preference will be given to applicants with recent nursing experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department. Preference will also be given to those candidates who possess recent acute/critical care experience in the last two years. Graduation from a recognized Orthopedic Technician Course. Responsible to maintain active registration with the CLPNA throughout the duration of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C required) - Healthcare Provider Registration. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills required. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years applicable med/surg experience may be considered. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
