Completion of diploma from an accredited Ophthalmic Technology Program. Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2 years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician. Proficiency in patient workups including history taking, applanation tonometry, slit-lamp examinations, visual field testing, optical biometry, refractometry, optical coherence tomography, ophthalmic photography and angiography, Understanding of ophthalmic pharmacology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a hospital setting. Prior experience with Goldmann visual fields, electrophysiology and ocular ultrasound experience is not required but may be an asset. Must consistently demonstrate AHS core values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Program is preferred but not required.
