As a member of the RGH Allied Health Leadership team, the Occupational Therapist II - Team Lead may act as a leader for any of the following disciplines based on operational need: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Recreation Therapy, Therapy Assistants, Spiritual Care, Registered Dietitians, Administrative Support & the Safe Transfer and Injury Prevention Program/Move Safe team. The Team Lead involves provision of patient care, general supervision of professional & support staff, staff and caseload planning, orientation of new staff and students, provision of input on performance appraisals, participation in program evaluation and development and participation in staff development. Additionally, the position requires the ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of inter-disciplinary teams and key stakeholders at the site, zone and provincial level. The Team Lead will be adaptable and open to the continuous changes that occur in an acute care setting. As the environment can be challenging and fast-paced, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work cohesively and as a team-minded player in an inter-disciplinary setting. Additionally, the Lead will be effective in time management and demonstrate professional initiative. The Lead will also be a critical thinker with the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate compassion and empathy and have a focus on Patient & Family Centred care.

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an adult urban acute medical or surgical care environment in the last 15 years. Allied Health Team Lead experience. Experience in Program Development, Project Development, QI, or Change management.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years+ clinical experience within the last 10 years. Relevant leadership courses and education. Experience at Rockyview General Hospital.
