Nurse Practitioner-Hepatology
Your Opportunity:
The Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse functioning as an integral part of the Hepatology program, reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Hepatology and to the Hepatology Medical Lead. The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications), management referral and evaluation of client care specializing in cirrhosis and viral hepatology. The Hepatology NP works closely with other NPs, specialist MDs and the Hepatology multidisciplinary team. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities. Outreach services are provided by the Hepatology team and may be part of this role.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience as an NP in a relevant clinical setting and / or front-line clinical RN work in an acute care setting. Recent clinic experience in General Internal Medicine, Hepatology, acute care or other medicine subspecialty focus. Additional training in Lab and DI investigations would be an asset. Demonstrated commitment to professional development. Experience in research, education and quality improvement initiatives.
