Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Cardiology's focus is to provide expert clinical care in managing the health needs of individuals, families, and communities. In collaboration with Nurses, and other health team members, the Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Cardiology provides direct patient care using advanced assessment skills and a knowledge of clinical therapeutics for the purpose of assessment, diagnosis, intervention management, referrals and management of patients with cardiac disease across the continuum of health care services. Provides leadership and actively participates in program development. Consistently exercises a leadership role in utilizing best practices. Accepts responsibility for continuing education and competencies through ongoing professional development, research and quality activities.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:At least 3 years of full time related clinical experience as a Registered Nurse is a requirement. Demonstrated clinical leadership, strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Effective change agent.
Preferred Qualifications:As Required.
