Your Opportunity:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) for Gynecology at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women is an essential member of an inter-professional health care team caring for women. This position, reporting to the Patient Care Manager, supports gynecology patients and the health care teams for the inpatient gynecology unit, the day surgery unit and the Early Pregnancy Loss Clinic. This Nurse Practitioner supports the patient throughout their hospital journey and is an important member of the team supporting and ensuring care is timely, cohesive and collaborative. This role is responsible and accountable for the provision of evidence informed clinical care to patients. The NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), prescribing medications, intervention, management, referral, follow up, and evaluation of patient care. This position is the point of contact for patients/families/care providers, both for in-patients and outpatients. The successful candidate will be active in research activities and education for the team. Strong communication and assessment skills are integral to the success of this role. The incumbent will strive to be a clinical resource and leader to support optimal patient care.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in nursing (Nurse Practitioner) with a strong focus on advanced clinical nursing practice with a strong focus on Women’s health (gynecology, oncology etc.). 3+ years clinical experience. Demonstrated ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team. The incumbent will need to demonstrate a passion and desire to work with this patient population. Self-directed and have the ability to work in a team environment. Practice trauma informed and patient centred care. Demonstrated leadership ability, acute care clinical skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Experience in staff education.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team. The ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent working knowledge of computers and systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. The ability to orientate and teach new staff members. Excellent organizational skills. Gynecological and oncological experience is an asset. Connect Care experience an asset.
