Nurse Practitioner
Your Opportunity:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Scope of this role will be to support the Emergency Department Waiting Room, Initiation of investigations including order sets, symptom management. Along with supporting EMS offload and the triage nursing team. The NP role in the UAH ED is used to promote flow through the department by identifying patients that would benefit from early investigations or procedures, analgesics and antiemetics prior to being seen by the emergency physician. The ED NP works closely with nursing staff to manage EMS off-loaded patients that are waiting for a formal care space within the department. This role requires strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills as well as a strong foundation in emergency department flow. The successful ED NP will have a broad background in adult presentations including those with complicated medical histories including transplant recipients and other immunocompromised populations.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Participate in and maintain additional education and/or certifications specific to area of practice. Complete AHS Annual Requirements (as per MyLearningLink) and basic healthcare provider CPR.
