Required Qualifications:

The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who holds a Master of Nursing or equivalent graduate degree with a focus on advanced clinical nursing practice. Integrating the knowledge of Advanced Nursing Practice, the NP is responsible and accountable for the provision of evidence-based expert perinatal care to women and their families. The NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment (including ultrasound), diagnosis (including the ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including the prescribing of medications), management, referral, and evaluation of client care. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities. In addition, the NP participates in multidisciplinary collaboration in the practice setting to determine and regularly review local policies and guidelines.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrates competence with assessment of obstetrical patients using advanced physical examination (e.g. pregnancy loss patients, pre-eclampsia patient). Demonstrates clinical competency in clinical procedures such as Leopold’s Maneuver, Basic U/S assessment (e.g. position check), Cervical assessment, Speculum exams, Assessment of amniotic fluid, IV therapy, Venipuncture, Inductions of Labors (e.g. cervidil and foley insertions), Basic Gynecological procedures, I.V. therapy, and Injections. Excellent communication skills and teaching abilities is essential. Family centered care and a collaborative practice approach and philosophy is required. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated skills in using electronic medical records, including SCM and Netcare. Successful completion of an approved NP program at a minimum of a Master of Nursing Level or equivalent. Registration with CARNA as a NP.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous NP experience in a Women’s Health setting. 3-5 years of experience in a Women’s Health setting as an RN. Experience in supporting and caring for patients/families with perinatal loss. Experience performing ultrasound assessments. Experience performing and interpreting NST. Fetal Health Surveillance. Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
