This Mental Health Therapist working with Sylvan Lake Recovery Alberta is a member of a multidisciplinary team who works with clients to foster engagement, enhance motivation and improve health by providing community-based, recovery-oriented therapy and case management for people experiencing mental illness and concurrent disorders. Advanced knowledge of mental illness, evidence-based/evidence-informed treatment (including risk assessment and crisis management) and an ability to identify and provide support for concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidity is required. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Training required: Suicide Intervention, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Experience: 5 years in a mental health-related capacity. License(s)/Certificate(s): Professional Membership(s): Professional certificates, registrations and designations, in order to practice. Must have full registration with the appropriate health profession regulating body (e.g. College of Alberta Psychologists, Alberta College of Social Workers, Association of Registered Nurses) suitable for engagement in activities restricted within the Health Professions Act).
Preferred Qualifications:Basic Life Support through Heart & Stroke Foundation
