Your Opportunity:

Are you interested in joining our community mental health team providing a range of services to support persons living with mental illness? Recovery Alberta Mental Health & Addiction Adult Community Services is looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic, and dynamic team member to join our team and fill a permanent position of a 0.8 FTE Mental Health Therapist. As a Mental Health Therapist in this program, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to clients aged 18+ who are presenting with a variety of complex and chronic mental illnesses. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in assessment, therapeutic intervention, consultation and referral. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be expected to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention using a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing complex mental health difficulties. You will also need to be comfortable maintaining accurate, appropriate & timely documentation, facilitating referrals to various treatment/community programs and building relationships with community collaborators. You will also be responsible for liaising, working in partnership with and providing consultation to community agencies, other professionals, and physicians in the continuum of Mental Health & Addiction care. This position reports to manager of the Adult Community Services program. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience delivering therapy to individual experiencing complex mental health challenges. Able to demonstrate successful collaboration with interdisciplinary & community partners. Experience facilitating psychotherapy groups. Completion of one of the following programs will also be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have restricted psychosocial intervention authorization. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or, a) Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with a) related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Authorization to do mental health psychosocial intervention is required.
