This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists. Social Workers and Psychologists: Completion of bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited nursing or psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience: Minimum 6 years recent mental health experience, acute community experience required. Extensive experience conducting crisis assessments. Ability to conduct a crisis assessment with a provisional diagnosis independently in the community. Extensive experience conducting suicide risk assessments. Significant comfort with working with forensic clients who may pose a danger to the community. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Solid knowledge foundation of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and ability to formulate an accurate provisional diagnosis. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. Strong mental health assessment, crisis management and counselling skills. High degree of creativity and flexibility as well as the ability to work independently and to engage and work with a diverse client population. A significant level of physical fitness and stamina are required. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; high level of interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a community-wide multidisciplinary team. Must be confident to work from a concurrent capable perspective.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with multidisciplinary team and community agencies. Experience working with diverse populations. High degree of creativity and flexibility as well as the ability to work as part of a team and to engage and work with a diverse client population with complex needs. Ability to set priorities and organize time effectively. Ability to work in stressful, demanding and changing conditions.
