This Medical Radiation Tech (MRT I) position performs quality general radiology and portable examinations in the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Brooks Health Centre. Close collaboration with technical staff, nursing, patients, physicians, supervisor and management is required. Located in Brooks the Health Centre is an acute care facility that services a large area of southeastern Alberta. Located on Highway 1 Brooks it is approximately 200 kms from Calgary and 100 Kms from Medicine Hat. It is close to two large provincial parks, Dinosaur Provincial Park and Kinbrook Island Provincial Park which contains Lake Newell.
Description:
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:MRT technologist with strong radiation safety and technical skills in general radiology and portables required. Demonstrated positive attitude and good work ethic. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication and computer skills. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, work effectively independently and within a team environment. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations required. Demonstrated interest in professional growth and continued education. Demonstrated perception, initiative, judgment and concern for detail and accuracy. Demonstrated tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, students, AHS staff and physicians.
