Manager, Clinical Engineering
Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Engineering Manager is a key leadership role in Capital Management and reports directly to a Zone Director of Clinical Engineering. This position is responsible and accountable for leading two operational teams in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Clinical Engineering programs and services in support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services.
Description:
The position is responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of the Clinical Engineering program. Contributing to the development of Clinical Engineering department goals and business plans to ensure they are supportive of and in compliance with the delivery of quality and sustainable health systems. Managing the department’s site-specific operations and planning that aligns with direction set by Alberta Health Services and Capital Management. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide operational leadership to and oversee all related programs and services. Provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. Promotes an environment that fosters quality improvement and a culture of safety for staff and patients.

The successful candidate will have Degree in Clinical or Biomedical Engineering and certified as a Clinical Engineer (CCE) or registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with four years of relevant healthcare experience. Biomedical Engineering Technologist candidates who have graduated with a diploma or degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology and provincially certified as an Engineering Technologist (CET) in the Biomedical discipline with 10 years of healthcare experience in acute care facilities will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Well-developed leadership skills to direct and manage staff, with proven strategic thinking and creative problem solving. Experience with team building, conflict management and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and motivate others. Detailed knowledge of healthcare organizations and terminology is essential, along with familiarity of medical specialties and associated medical equipment. Excellent written and oral communication & interpersonal skills. Strong initiative and organizational skills with the ability to independently manage deadlines and financial budgets. Achieve cost effectiveness, continuous improvement and efficiency through LEAN processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of recent experience managing Biomedical Engineering operations is preferred.
