Your Opportunity:
The Unit Manager position on Unit 41 is part of a leadership group overseeing Unit 41A/Unit 54 and the Cast Clinic at the Foothills Medical Centre. Units 41/54 are two surgical orthopaedic units specializing in orthopaedic related injuries including, but not limited to, orthopaedic trauma, orthopaedic spine, sarcoma and polytrauma. Units 54/41A are 2 units, with one cohort of staff, totaling approximately 250 staff. The Unit Manager will assist with managing day to day clinical operations of Unit 41A, 54 and the Cast Clinic.
Description:
The Unit Manager is accountable for day-to-day operations and supports the delivery of care for the patient population. Reporting to the Manager this position is required to have expertise in leadership, communication and clinical knowledge. This position plays a key role in communications with key stakeholders, resource utilization, hiring of and staff scheduling, maintaining clinical competencies within the nursing team, achieving organizational goals and addressing emerging issues. The Unit Manager supports a cohesive team, builds clinical expertise and implements change to achieve excellent quality care, better patient outcomes and positive patient and family experiences and resource utilization.

1-2 years recent experience in a leadership role. 1-2 years recent experience on an acute care unit. 1-2 years recent experience with managing change in a dynamic environment. 1-2 years recent experience managing in a unionized workforce. Previous experience in conflict resolution.
