Working in a multi-disciplinary team, reporting to the Director of EMS Operations, the Manager supports a team of Supervisors who lead front-line healthcare teams. As a culture change leader, you provide direction and oversight to align with AHS’s vision and mission. In this role, you will inspire, coach, and mentor EMS Supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth. You oversee human resource processes such as recruitment, performance management, change initiatives, and return-to-work programs while supporting staff in their professional development and ensuring adherence to organizational protocols and policies. You will coordinate daily operations, develop deployment strategies, and align resources with operational and strategic objectives. Your focus is ensuring safety and excellence in EMS delivery, using data-driven decision-making to monitor and enhance performance while fostering a positive experience for our workforce. You will manage budgets, oversee procurement, and allocate resources effectively to maintain operational efficiency. Promoting a culture of safety, you will ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards while addressing logistical challenges related to equipment, training, and infrastructure. You will also lead change initiatives to integrate EMS services, enhance workforce performance, and drive transformation. By implementing and managing programs aligned with EMS and organizational goals, you will develop innovative solutions to address complex operational challenges. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships is essential to engage with affiliates, contract service partners, unions, and first responder agencies. Your transparent and respectful communication aligns operations with community needs, strengthening partnerships that support the success of EMS services.

We are looking for candidates who are graduates of an Alberta College of Paramedics-approved program with current registration or eligibility with ACP. A valid Alberta Class 4 Operator’s License with no more than 6 demerits is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a complex, diverse organization, preferably in healthcare, and proven expertise in managing human, physical, and fiscal resources. You will bring a demonstrated ability to inspire and lead teams with a focus on collaboration and accountability, strong strategic planning and decision-making skills, and comprehensive knowledge of EMS protocols, safety compliance, and resource management. Effective communication skills, including conflict resolution and active listening abilities, are essential. Additionally, you should be skilled in quality improvement and implementing innovative solutions to drive operational success.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrates a deep understanding and practical application of leadership principles, with the ability to coach, mentor and motivate diverse teams, fostering collaboration, trust and continuous growth. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution, and active listening abilities, enabling clear, transparent, and empathetic interactions with staff and stakeholders. Skilled in strategic planning, quality improvement, and resource alignment, with a proactive approach to implementing innovative solutions and anticipating future challenges. Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain relationships, navigate labour relations, and resolve conflicts effectively, exhibiting diplomacy, integrity and accountability. Has comprehensive knowledge of EMS protocols, safety compliance and resource management, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex operational challenges effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor or Graduate Degree in healthcare administration, business, or leadership. Demonstrated self-led professional development in leadership or EMS operations. Proven ability to manage change and implement innovative solutions. Experience in unionized environments and fostering partnerships.
