Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II (ACB)

Alberta Health Services has a unique opportunity for a Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II to join our Screen Test North team as integral part of the Alberta Breast Cancer Screening program. The Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II (MQC Tech) will report to the Screen Test North Supervisor and work closely with the Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II from the Screen Test South office. The MQC Tech will provide leadership to the Screen Test North mammography technologist team and oversee the operations of the mammography/technical area. The MQC Tech will be part of a dynamic team that provides crucial breast screening and access to mammography services in Edmonton and also to over 120 rural communities via two mobile mammography units, which have made early detection of breast cancer possible for patients in rural and remote locations including Indigenous and underserved communities. The MQC Tech will rely on their expertise in the field of mammography to contribute directly to achieving the goals established by the Screen Test department, Screening Programs Division and Alberta Health Services. The successful candidate will benefit from the imminent delivery of two custom made state of art mobile clinic trailers which will begin operating in the first quarter of 2025. This will provide the incumbent with the unique opportunity to be trained in the newest mammography technology offered through Hologic as well as utilize other features on the new mobile coaches. This position works a standard day shift 4 days a week or total of 31 hours per week. This position will be required to work some mobile rotations, which are comprised of three 12 hours days and requires out of town and overnight travel.
Description:
As a Mammography Technologist II, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the mammography and technical areas and have direct supervisory responsibilities for Mammography Technologist I staff. As well as being knowledgeable about mammographic equipment and positioning, you must be able to work without direct supervision and perform a wide range of quality control tests with attention to detail. You must be able to recognize and troubleshoot problems and be able to show a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and relate comfortably and professionally with clients, volunteers, and staff within a multi-disciplinary team.

Completion of diploma in Medical Radiation Technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years previous mammography experience. Minimum of 2 years management experience. Able to lift supplies of at least 25 pounds up a set of stairs. Proven experience working successfully within a multi-disciplinary team. Proven experience in quality control of mammography images and equipment. Should exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to motivate others, clear and effective communication, critical thinking and decision making.
Preferred Qualifications:Specialty Certificate in Breast Imaging. Knowledge and understanding the process of CPSA and CAR-MAP. Post graduate course(s) in mammography (e.g. CAMRT Mammo I and Mammo II). Proven experience in conflict management, concerns resolution and performance management. Knowledge and understanding the HSAA Collective Agreement, with ability to apply it to everyday situations. Management experience within a unionized environment.
