Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 and post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field - 4th class Power Engineer Certificate (or equivalent) required. Seasoned /specialized technical /professional experience required. 5 years previous experience in building architectural, plumbing, electrical structural and associated HVAC / medical gas systems maintenance in an institutional setting. Must be knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of buildings and architectural, plumbing, electrical structural and HVAC / medical gas systems. Must be familiar with the use of tools and equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative and capable of working independently. Must possess initiative and be capable of giving direction and supervision as required. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance program. 3-5 years' experience as a Building operator in a Healthcare facility. 2-3 years' experience hands on working directly with LP steam and heating boilers. Hands on with BMS system (Metasys will be given preference).
Preferred Qualifications:Must have the strength and stamina to lift and carry heavy materials, and to perform repetitive tasks involving bending, stretching, walking and kneeling. Must be able to organize workloads and ensure duties are completed in a timely manner. Must utilize personal safety equipment when required. Must be neat in appearance. Must be comfortable working at heights and on roofs.
