Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have Grade 12 High School diploma supplemented by technical training from a recognized educational institution in a related field or ABSA 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate. Must have min three years maintenance experience in a hospital or similar setting. Must be knowledgeable in the maintenance, operations and repair of buildings; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hospital equipment, fire systems, BMS building management, Strong knowledge and familiar with the use of hand and power tools and equipment Completes demand and preventative maintenance repairs in a timely manner. Regular lifting of up to 20 kg. Use proper lifting techniques and equipment. Regular pushing/pulling of up to 150 kg. Moving equipment. Due to the large area of the facility and number of repair calls that must be responded to daily, there is a requirement for regular walking. Be the site Point of Contact, leading, provides guidance to outside contractors. Site Project Support where needed. Must speak and read English clearly. Available to respond to after-hours call back to site if needed. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, (winter and summer). Must be comfortable working in high security facility and understanding patient, visitor and staff requests within this environment. Must have good understanding of computer programs and be familiar with e-facilities platform, Outlook, emails.
Preferred Qualifications:Comfortable with working independently along with working in a team environment. Performance of multiple tasking ability: Regular frequency of wide and extensive variety of equipment and troubles in the facility, there is often need to prioritize and complete multiple tasks concurrently.
