Maintenance Worker II
Your Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering Department is looking to add a Maintenance Worker ll to its Architectural Department. This position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the UAH Facilities and responding to emergent incidents. This position is responsible for a wide range of tasks including, floor repairs, wall repairs, equipment repairs, millwork repairs, performing general work orders, organizing work permits and planning tasks with patient units, painting, carpentry, door maintenance and repairs, concrete repairs, and installation of various architectural items. This position actively supports and assists various other trades like Painters, Locksmiths, Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC techs, Shift Engineers. This position is also a crucial part of the flood response team, helping to reduce the negative impact on patient safety during unforeseen emergencies.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Proven Experience in Facility Maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:Proven experience with Carpentry, Flooring, Drywall, Steel Stud Framing, T-Bar Ceilings, Millwork installations/repairs, & setting up hoarding containments in a clinical setting.
