Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years Adult Acute Medicine/Surgery experience required. Basic computer skills are required. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, decision making, interpersonal and communication skills. Physical Assessment, IV Therapy and Medication Administration course. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18kg). Orientation will be provided for applicants without hemodialysis experience. Please note: Must be available to take Hemodialysis orientation in Edmonton or Red Deer and have access to a computer for the online portion of the education. Orientation will take 6 weeks: 4 weeks on unit training and 2 weeks of buddy shifts (or equivalent hours). A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts which are assigned by the hiring manager. Advanced Practice Standards 3-10 & 16-17 required. These can be found in the Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses – 5th Edition on the CLPNA website.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants with current hemodialysis experience. Preference will be given to applicants with current Connect Care experience.
