Exciting opportunity to work at Full Scope of Practice on an Acute Internal Medicine and Medical Teaching Unit. You will help to advance the unit’s values of: Collaborative Practice, Full scope of Practice, Patient and Family Centered Care and evidence-based practice, while working in a dynamic team environment that supports learning. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient and family focused nursing care while working in a collaborative care service delivery model. This position is a great opportunity to work at full scope of practice, and to develop a broad knowledge base and a solid nursing foundation. To be successful you will need strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands, good communication skills and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 years’ bedside nursing experience (within the last 3 years) in acute care medical nursing, with proven ability to function in acute care nursing. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. Requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience on Unit 46 or previous experience on a general internal medicine unit, within the last 2 years, preferred. Previous experience in working with Connect Care preferred. Recent discharge planning experience an asset. Experience in working with Core elements of COACT an asset. CVC/ PCA certification preferred. Recent Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and Current It’s Your Move certification preferred.
