Your Opportunity:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions at acute care at Strathmore hospital will be performed in an environment that will challenge the ability to balance varying patient acuity levels and priorities. You will participate in the provision of health care to patients in Acute Care which includes medical/surgical full lifespan and palliative care patients. The LPN role is responsible for the assessment, planning, care provision and evaluation of the patient in Acute Care. You will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families in a diverse population, focusing on an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. You will follow nursing standards/protocols as required, working to full scope of practice. You are aware that the LPN position requires physical demands including lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients and equipment up to a frequent basis. A high level of physical effort is required related to clinical caseload, a LPN may be required to push, pull, and lift to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current nursing experience. Excellent computer skills. Experience and knowledge of IV treatment and medications.

Preferred Qualifications:

CTAS. Experience or education in caring for cardiac monitored patients. Dementia education. Experience in caring for the elderly. Rural experience. Acute care experience. Certification in CVC. Palliative care education.
